Former 98 Degrees boy band member gets year of probation

Singer Jeff Timmons, a former member of the pop music boy band 98 Degrees, was sentenced in Cape Canaveral, Florida, to a year of probation after pleading no contest on charges of reckless driving and refusing to sign a citation.

The singer, who entered the plea on Wednesday, was also ordered to undergo treatment for alcohol and substance abuse. He will also be required to serve 50 hours of community service.

Timmons (33) was stopped by police on April 23rd. He was pulled over after police officers observed him driving 60 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone, according to police reports.

Timmons, who had been in Cape Canaveral for a charity softball game, had a charge of driving under the influence dropped due to a lack of evidence. Assistant state attorney Michelle Perlman has stated that Timmons had refused “all physical testing — breath or blood or urine.”
