Fall Out Boy jump to No. 1 on Pop 100 chart and plan a thank you for fans

The heat is on and the countdown has begun to February 6th, when ‘Infinity On High’ – the long-awaited new album by multi-platinum, two-time MTV VMA award-winning Island Records group Fall Out Boy arrives in stores.

In advance of the release date, the album’s first single pick, “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race,” which was premiered in a live performance at the 34th annual American Music Awards in November – and shipped to radio the same night, in an unprecedented move – has catapulted at radio to #1-bullet (from #86) on the Billboard Pop 100 chart.  At the same time, “…Arms Race” (which is the #1 Digital Single) makes a spectacular first week #2 debut on the Hot 100 – the highest debut by a rock band since Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” in 1998.  The “…Arms Race” video first hit the #1 spot on MTV’s TRL two weeks ago, and remains at #1.

Fall Out Boy’s long-term commitment to their fans, which has included ticket offerings, exclusive online tracks, and intimate details of their lives on the road and off via their website, falloutboyrock.com, goes one step further with the release of ‘Leaked In London.’  This live EP will contain exclusive content to be recorded live at the band’s final UK tour date at London’s Hammersmith Palais on January 29th.

Dedicated fans who purchase a physical CD of ‘Infinity on High’ and play it on their computer will be given instructions on falloutboyrock.com to access the live music on ‘Leaked In London’ for free download.  This will be active February 6th for one week. When users download the EP, they can also upload their MySpace photo or other profile page to be a permanent part of Fall Out Boy history, tentatively titled the “Infinity on High Hall Of Fame.”

In addition, Island Records is offering various exclusive offers as incentives to fans to purchase the CD – including bonus tracks, a tour presale ticket offer, an exclusive band poster and more.  For example, when the CD is purchased or downloaded at walmart.com, fans can get an exclusive bonus track “It’s Hard to Say ‘I Do’ When I Don’t.”  With a pre-order of the digital album from the Walmart site, fans also get the “…Arms Race” single instantly.  In a similar way, those who pre-order ‘Infinity on High’ at bestbuy.com receive a limited edition laminate plus download codes for two bonus tracks: “G.I.N.A.S.F.S.” and a remix of “…Arms Race.”

‘Infinity on High’ is the follow-up to ‘From Under The Cork Tree’ (Fall Out Boy’s Island debut) which has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide since its release in May 2005.  The new album reunites the group with longtime A&R executive Rob Stevenson, along with Neal Avron, who produced, recorded and mixed Cork Tree.  The new album also finds Fall Out Boy working with megastar hitmaking R&B producer Babyface for the first time.

After winning the coveted MTV2 Award in 2005 (for their first Island single, “Sugar, We’re Going Down”), Chicago’s Fall Out Boy – Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Trohman (guitar), and Andy Hurley (drums) – picked up their second consecutive moonman this past September, when the video for their second Island single (“Dance, Dance”) won 2006’s MTV VMA Viewers Choice Award.  They also received last year’s Grammy nomination in the highly competitive Best New Artist category.

‘Infinity on High’ is now available for pre-order at Amazon. Visit the music database for more information.
