Eugene Levy has joined the cast of the independent comedy “Goon.”
According to Variety, Michael Dowse is directing a cast that includes Seann William Scott, Jay Baruchel, Liev Schreiber, Alison Pill and Marc-Andre Grondin.
Baruchel and Evan Goldberg wrote the script, based on the book “Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey” by Doug Smith and Adam Frattasio.
Shooting is underway in Winnipeg, Canada.
Baruchel is producing with David Gross, Jesse Shapira and DCP Productions’ Don Carmody.
The film centers on bouncer Doug Glatt (Scott), who upon discovering his right hook and ability to skate, joins a floundering hockey team and inspires them to new heights.
Levy is known for his work in the “American Pie” films.
