Six years after the first anonymous blogpost rocked New York society, Season Six opens with the Upper East Siders working together to find one of their own. Serena has gone off the grid beyond even the reach of Gossip Girl. Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best but even they can\'t imagine where they will ultimately find her. Meanwhile Blair has offered Chuck her heart but ...more
“No one reads Gossip Girl anymore, that’s for old people.” – current 17 year old Upper East Side private school student.
Gossip Girl has come to an end, and fans will want to own the 6th and Final Season on DVD to complete the journey of fashions, friendships, scandals and relationships that all began in the Upper East Side private school so long ago.
Season Six starts with Serena (Blake Lively) taking a page from her own playbook and disappearing. Of course the Upper East Siders re-group, coming home from all parts of the world, leaving behind their careers or hobbies to undertake a mission to find their missing friend.
Defining friendship has never been easy for this group, and we are not certain what motives lie behind the desperate search, except that they all feel some connection to Serena and oddly enough to each other.
From the surprising mission accomplished moment, this season’s Gossip Girl is a whirlwind of schemes, scandals and romance, and of course don’t forget the fabulously indulgent fashions.
This season’s episodes are full of great scenarios, like Serena as an almost stepmother to a teenaged girl whom Nate describes as “teen Serena times 10” or Chuck and Blair going their separate ways, believe it when you see it, in order to be close later.
Along with outrageous behavior and truly funny lines, Gossip Girl pulls out all the stops this season making it highly addictive and fun. If you haven’t seen this season, or if you just want to relish again the Upper East Siders believing they can tell the truth, wallowing in over the top lies, keeping secrets and divulging startling revelations again, this is the set for you.
Gossip Girl: The Complete Sixth and Final Season set is presented on three discs, Included is a full color brochure, illustrated with stills from the series that contains a synopsis of each episode and listings of the special features. A nice set of special features accompany this final season.
“A Big Farewell to Our Upper East Siders” allows cast members and crew to bid adieu to the series in high form. An overview of the series will allow you to “catch up” or refresh your memories of past triumphs and troubles, there is an audio download of the prequel novel “It Had to Be You”, a gag reel and extended and deleted scenes.
All in all a good package to end the series. I’ll have to admit to missing the series, as the anticipation of WHAT will happen next was always entertaining.
