By Patrick Luce Nov 11, 2011, 15:42 GMT

Animated DC Universe cartoon series for a new generation starring ROBIN, AQUALAD, KID FLASH, SUPERBOY, MISS MARTIAN and ARTEMIS . Combined these six teenage heroes are YOUNG JUSTICE the JUSTICE LEAGUE\'s secret weapon against the forces of evil. Based out of THE CAVE, the teen heroes will take on under-the-radar missions that would be impossible for the League proper (with its incandescent star-power) to handle covertly. In addition, these kids ...more
While Young Justice makes sure to pack plenty of action into each episode, fans of the series might be a little disappointed that the first season continues to be broken into four-episode Volume releases rather than a complete Season One collection.
The series is extremely entertaining and will please adult fans of DC Comics’ younger superheroes and the show’s targeted kid friendly audience. It was created by Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti and airs on Cartoon Network
The series features Robin, Superboy, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Miss Martian and Artemis as they take their own brand of justice to the streets to take on the super bad guys – including from Amazo, Black Manta, and Klarion the Witch. Although the series focuses on the younger heroes, it also features appearances from some of DC Comics heavy hitters such as Batman, Aquaman and Dr. Fate.
The four episodes collected in this volume include Schooled, Infiltrator, Denial, and Downtime.
Schooled – The episode sees Superboy having trouble coming to terms with his role as a superhero and being in the shadow of Superman. The team also has to go up against Professor Ivo's Amazo. It features appearances from Black Canary (who attempts to train Superboy) and Batman.
Infiltrator – A great episode sees Red Arrow taking on the League of Shadows as Artemis tries to find her place on the team while proving she deserves to be there.
Denial - The episode finds Kid Flash and the team dealing with magic as Red Tornado sends them to keep Abra Kadabra and Klarion the Witch Boy from getting their hands on Dr. Fate’s helmet.
Downtime – Clayface shows the young heroes they may not be ready for the big time, and Aqualad heads to Atlantis for some downtime to decide if he wants to stay with the team. Black Manta pops up to cause some trouble for the young hero. This is a great episode and features Batman and Aquaman.
In addition to only having four episodes, the Volume Two DVD lacks any special features to make it worth the purchase.
Although the series is a blast to watch, each episode is only about 22 minutes long and there is zero reason to release it in short volumes. Fans of the series or comics will want to add it to their collection, but might want to wait until Warner Bros. sees fit to give it a proper Season One collection release.
