Horrible Bosses is not so much about the bosses (played by Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and Jennifer Aniston) as it is about the little guys coming out on top and winning maybe just one for the underdog team (played by Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis).

Nick (Bateman) is a hopeful corporate ladder climber that probably would be getting somewhere if it weren’t for his boss, Dave Harken (Spacey). Harken hints heavily while insulting and manipulating Nick that there is a vice president position available and Nick, just might be the guy.

Nick’s policy is to lie down and take it, whatever there is to take. That is how one gets ahead in the business world game.

When Harden gives himself the position, Nick’s dreams are dashed. He shares his pain with drink and friends, who have their own boss problems.

Dale (Day), the almost dentist (a dental assistant), is being sexually harassed by his boss, Julia Harris, D.D.S. (Aniston). She not only makes lewd sexual advances toward him, but she involves the gas induced patients, also.

Nick and Kurt insist that Dale has nothing to complain about because Julia is HOT. But Dale is engaged and would like to remain so, and perhaps even get married if he could afford to do so. His life-long dream is to be a husband.

Kurt works for a chemical company and loves his boss, Mr. Pellitt (played by Donald Sutherland) but loathes his boss’ son, Bobby (Farrell). When the unexpected happens, Kurt has to deal with Bobby as his boss. Bobby loves hookers, parties, and lots of cocaine. He is also determined to run the company into the ground.

All three friends meet frequently at the local bar to discuss these boss problems. When they realize that they can’t take it anymore and must do something, they decide to hire a hit man kill their nemesis bosses.

Enter Motherf*cka Jones (played by Jamie Foxx). He tells them he will do the deeds for $5000. The guys come up with the money and then he tells them he is only their consultant, that he won’t be doing any killings. He suggests that each of them kill the other’s boss, so that there is not a connection. They agree and hilarity and chaos ensue.

This is probably one of the best comedies I have seen in a long while. It is smart and clever but doesn’t go beyond that. It won’t make your head hurt trying to figure it out. It is simply an entertaining ride with lots of laughs.

It has plenty of cameos for the movie fan to nod and laugh at (Sutherland and Foxx namely). It is well-acted and well-directed, an all-around well-made movie.

The Blu-ray comes with no features, but the credits include bloopers as an end-homage to some great laughs. Highly recommended.
