Tyler Perry has reunited the cast from Why Did I Get Married? to explore more of the mysteries of relationships.  It is the men against the women and vice versa as the friends gather for a vacation in the Bahamas, and carry their troubles home to Atlanta.

If you are married, you will immediately recognized some of the turf wars that take place between these couples, and if you have never been married, it is safe to say that you have probably seen your married friends go through these crazy times.

Tyler Perry’s characters embody familiar “types” of men and women, and are completely believable.  They have their good points and their very human failings allowing viewers to identify with one character or see themselves as a combination.  Diane (Sharon Leal) is superwoman, a lawyer, a wife and a mom, keeping everything organized and on schedule.  She and Terry (Tyler Perry) seem to have a perfect life, but is something on the verge of going wrong?

Dr. Patricia (Janet Jackson) as a psychiatrist is calm, collected and appears to have all the answers, and never seems to need to talk or ask advice from her friends.  Is she that reluctant to let down her guard even with her husband?  S has been through a bad marriage with Mike and is now happily married to Troy and has taken a stand to protect this relationship at all costs.

Angela is so over the top emotionally, everyone calls her crazy, but they love her.  No one loves her more than her husband Kenny, but her suspicious nature may just drive him to reconsider.

The Bahamas trip is supposed to be the perfect get away, relaxing and rejuvenating for the couples.  It appears from the start that like all of us, they can’t let go of the troubles long enough to make the magic of the place work.  In spite of excellent advice given to them by the elderly couple they meet and ask to dinner, each one of the characters is going to proceed in his or her own way and for several there will be quite a bit of trouble before mistakes can be acknowledged and peace is made.

Throughout there is the sense that these people love each other.  There is much love in the relationships, and a deep love in the friendships, but humans will be human and get things messed up before they find the correct path.

The Blu-ray edition of Why Did I Get Married Too? is beautiful.  The breathtaking scenes in the Bahamas are exciting and gorgeous…like having a mini-vacation as you watch the action.  Back home in Atlanta, there is the feel of the city and the pressures of daily life falling in on the couples.

While the Bahamas are shown in bright colors, and warm feeling environments including the rooms of the beach house, the homes in Atlanta seem cooler, and in some cases almost antiseptic, devoid of life.  Nicely done, as these environments reflect the characters attempts to gloss over problems and keep it all going right, unemotional and organized.

Why Did I Get Married Too? Blu-ray is presented on single disc with a running time of 121 minutes.   There are excellent specials included, “Girl Talk:  The Women of Married Featurette” which explores the character of each woman and how she contributes to the combined friendship and how she handles her personal life.

“Male Bonding: The Men of Married Featurette does the same for the male characters and answers some of those thoughts we women have in the film like “is that what they REALLY say about us when we aren’t there?”  Janet Jackson’s “Nothing” music video is heartfelt as is her entire performance in the movie, this having been in the filming stage at the time of her brother’s death.  A character guide for the couples rounds out the bonus features.

This is a must have for Tyler Perry fans, or for anyone who appreciates relationship films.
