Heroes is over as a network television show, but the final season is available on Blu Ray for fans to enjoy, with loads of extras and special features. Now audiences can have the opportunity to view the season again as the saga twists and turns its way to a “Brave New World.”
Heroes has always been an innovative and entertaining production. When it started, there was nothing like it on television, and viewers readily embraced the graphic novel come to life sensibility of the show. Each season brought some answers, but left fans with new questions as the series shifted from what was meant to be an ever changing cast to a solid cast with global implications for the story.
It became part of the entertainment to anticipate actions, or conjecture where the plot was leading. That is not to say that anyone ever got it right when making guesses about the characters or their adventures. There were many surprises including time shifts that were fascinating.
The writers kept the story moving and changing right through the final season, where things didn’t so much end as simply stopped. If Heroes was a favorite of yours, you still have the entertainment of imagining what happens after the show ends with inspiration from various websites.
Season Four is Volume Five of the series and named “Redemption.” It begins with Claire and Peter trying to return to a normal life as a college student and a paramedic. Skylar’s body now holds Nathan’s consciousness and Matt’s mind houses Skylar’s evil presence which only wants to escape into his own body.
Hiro and Ando have created a “Dial a Hero” business, for better or worse, but Hiro seems to be suffering from a mysterious malady. A very strange carnival comes to town, and it is led by Samuel who seems intent on adding more people with abilities to his group, ostensibly to create a community where they can live in respect and trust.
It is a season of twists and turns, some new characters and shocking revelations. As Season four ends, the whole world of the Heroes is changed by one act from Claire.
Heroes Season 4 Blu Ray is presented on four discs, containing all 18 episodes. The back cover of the folder includes episode synopses and production notes. Each disc has special features.
Blu Ray extras are a behind the scenes look at the carnival and the season’s new stars with “Behind the Big Top,” U-Control Hero Biographies, pocket blu for smart phone devices, and BD live.
Hi Def features include “Deconstructing Skylar,” “Heroes Revolution,” “Milo Speaks,” “Sullivan Brothers Design Gallery,” “Genetics of a Scene.” In addition there are deleted scenes from the episodes as well as extended scenes, and a Heroes Connection for the network.
This is a good set to finish out the series, and to offer fans the opportunity to enjoy more of the show via extras and web connections.
