ER the hospital drama that pretty much had “change” as its byword, has season twelve out on DVD. For longtime fans or for those new to the series, this is a chance to follow the stories as they move from Chicago to Iraq and Darfur, and cover a range of traumas and crises in both the professional and private lives of the doctors and nurses.
The twelfth season of ER was full of new directions, as viewers followed Dr. Abby Lockheart (Maura Tierney), Dr. Neela Rasgotra (Parminder Nagra) and Dr. Ray Barnett (Shane West) in their first days of being teaching residents rather than interns.
Dr. Lucas Kovac (Goran Visnjic) ended his relationship with Nurse Samantha Taggart (Linda Cardellini), and both moved on paths that would change their lives in a surprising way. And then there was Dr. Archie Morris (Scott Grimes) whose personal life including get rich quick schemes and a terrible track record with relationships always seemed to tangle his professional endeavors.
New doc in the ER Victor Clemente () took the stress to new levels as he imposed his style and personality on procedures. With the emotions and trials of their personal lives in the background, the doctors and nurses had to deal with the daily flow of gunshot wounds, traumas, disaster victims, birth, death, and saving lives.
Fans will want to add this to their collections, and enjoy again moments such as the VIP treatment of a baby chimpanzee, or Abby and Kovac’s drawing closer. There was much to love and much to mourn in this season and watching it again makes one marvel at the sacrifices made by the staff to keep the ER operating.
