In a year of changes for Betty (America Ferrera) this series maintains it charm and appeal. In colorful and charismatic stories, audiences follow the adventures of Betty as she moves to the Big City and deals with relationships and work.
Most viewers have forgotten that Betty ever had the “Ugly” attached to her name, as the character is endearing and her trials and triumphs both heartwarming and frustrating.
The third season of “Betty” brings situations that will give the heroine new opportunities and new challenges. Betty makes the decision to move on in her life not choosing either Gio or Henry and to leave Casa Suarez for an apartment of her own in the BIG CITY. There are the usual and the unusual pitfalls awaiting a girl living in the city.
Of course life connected with MODE magazine is more like living in a soap opera, than anywhere else, and Betty is caught up in many of the dramas.
The machinations of Wilhelmina (Vanessa L. Williams) to take over include making Betty her assistant. However, in the successful reinstating of Daniel (Eric Mabius) as Editor –in-Chief, Betty is able to resume her place as his assistant. There are romances, paternity questions, lover’s quarrels and all manner of love problems within Betty’s work environment.
She herself is not impervious to the charms of a couple of new guys, and on the home front both her sister Hilda and her father Ignacio are entangled with love affairs and prospective partners. So much happens in Betty’s world, that a mere synopsis cannot do it justice.
This is one show to be watched and enjoyed in every episode. Special guest stars such as Lindsey Lohan as Betty’s arch nemesis Kimmie Keegan add even more zest to the stories that can be heartwarming or heartbreaking.
Ugly Betty: The Complete Third Season is given the subtitle “Start Spreading the News” as an indication of Betty’s move to the Big City, and her even more complicated existence. It is presented on 6 discs containing all 24 episodes and a nice collection of bonus features. The running time for the episodes is 1032 minutes, and they are available in English audio with French or Spanish subtitles.
