Here they come.  Walkin’ down the street.  They get the funniest looks from everyone they meet.  Hey, hey they’re the Jonas Bros.  If you know where that lyric originally came from, you’re too old for this show.  I have to get this review typed up before lights out at the nursing home so I must hurry.

Nick, Kevin and Joe Lucas (played by Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas) are brothers in a rock band.  There’s a stretch.  The Lucas brothers attend high school and get into all sorts of hijinks.  This release collects five of the series episodes and two unaired ones.

Groovy Movies: The lads’ attempt at cooking ends up with the family movies destroyed and the boys reenact the events as a gift for mom.

Wrong Song: Nick falls for a girl (Bridgit Mendler) at school and writes her a song.  However, she sings the song and dedicates it to some other guy.

Pizza Girl: All the bros have a crush on the local pizza delivery girl (Schena Marie).

Band’s Best Friend: The boys best friend (Nate Hartley) returns for a visit and isn’t anything like they remember him as.

Chasing the Dream: Kevin agrees to allow a fan to record some vocals on the next Jonas song, but she can’t sing.

The Jonas Brothers usually have been relegated to guest star status on various Disney Channel shows.  They’ve now been given a series of their own.  It may be a bit late as I wonder if their target audience is outgrowing them, but they do have a certain charm.

It may be lost on the elderly, like me, and more charming young girls.  The show seems to be channeling the Monkees to a degree.  If you ask “who are the Monkees” then you’re probably in the age range for the show and if you remember the Monkees then you can always have the nurse tune the television to the Disney Channel to catch Jonas.  You’ll see the bros get into comedy hijinks and perform a song or two.

Jonas is presented in fullscreen.  Special features include two unaired episodes, Beauty and the Beat with the Jonases judging a beauty contest and Cold Shoulder about the visit of the president of the Scandinavian fan club and love in bloom.

Next is the 11 minute “You’ve just been Jo Bro’d” about the boys playing practical jokes, the 4 minute “Blu-ray is Suite,” a 1 minute bit about DisneyFile digital copy, and previews of other Disney products.

I prefer full season sets to the volumes, but putting the show out in volumes probably leads to more sales or some other diabolical marketing trick.  If you’re into Jo Bros then you’ll want to snatch up this first volume (there’s a collectible card inside and Nick autographed some of them).

Jonas Rockin' the House (Volume 1) is now available at Amazon. As of yet, there is not a release date for this version of the DVD in the UK. Visit the DVD database for more information.
