It is another year in the lives of the members of the Walker family.  In spite of wealth and position, the Walkers and Harpers are just like any other family group, beset by worries and troubles as well as celebrating successes and joys.

The Third Season is full of the events and moments that have made viewers take this family to their hearts.

The third season with the Walkers has plenty of excitement both in business and in family affairs.  Ojai Foods has an “iffy” future as Holly (Patricia Wettig) drives away both Sarah and Saul from the administration of the company.  Tommy embroils himself in an illegal transaction to remove Holly from the company and ends up running from the law.  Sarah finally finds work with a small company “Greenatopia” while struggling with being a single mom and dealing with her daughter Paige’s “growing pains.”

Robert and Kitty are looking forward to adopting a child, and Kitty has written a book about her experiences working for Robert that is less than flattering. Robert suffers a heart attack and the combination of caring for him and for a new baby creates problems in the relationship for Kitty.

Romance is abundant but full of changes for some.  It has been discovered that Rebecca is not a Walker, so she and Justin struggle with their relationship and then there is the input from a newly discovered half-brother.

Kevin takes on a new job working for Robert, and with new spouse Scotty has quite a bit of adjusting in both areas of his life.  Nora’s new project will mean a great deal of help for families facing illness, but it will also bring a new interest into her life.  And there is so much more!

Brothers and Sisters has the quality of story and acting that brings viewers back, to see what will happen and how these characters will either roll with the punches or make mistakes.  The joyful occasions are wonderfully portrayed as well as the discouraging or awful events.  Viewers feel the pain or elation and forget that this is simply a story being portrayed by skilled actors.

Younger cast members are fortunate to be working with such credentialed and giving performers as Sally Field, Patricia Wetting, Calista Flockhart and Rachel Griffiths.  Everyone in the cast appears to be completely committed to their performance and craft which raises the level of the show far above the nighttime drama genre.

Brothers and Sisters:  The Complete Third Season is presented on six discs in a fold out boxed set, illustrated with stills from the series.  A listing of the episodes appears on the inner flap of the fold out.  Total running time for the episodes in 1032 minutes and they are available with French or Spanish subtitles.

There are some nice bonus features included with this set, Deleted Scenes, Audio Commentaries, Outtakes and Bloopers enhance the episodes.  Also there are three separate featurettes to watch.  “The Ojai Experience” is a most interesting special, where the members of the cast go to an actual family-run Winery in Ojai, California.  The first-hand experiences of running such a business add a depth to the story and enrich the performances.

“In Between the Scenes” gives audiences the opportunity to experience life on the set of Brothers and Sisters, where good natured pratical jokes are played amongst a cast that obviously enjoys working together.  In “The Mothers of Brothers and Sisters” audiences are given an in-depth look at Nora Walker and Holly Harper through interviews with Sally Field and Patricia Wettig.

The actresses discuss their feelings about the characters they portray, the roles themselves, and moments from their legendary careers.

If you are a fan of the show, this season is a must for your collection.

Brothers and Sisters: The Complete Third Season is now available at Amazon. It is available for pre-order at AmazonUK for an Oct. 19th release. Visit the DVD database for more information.
