It is Season 6th of this viewer favorite, and the characters are in for some changes.  Jake (Angus T. Jones) and Charlie (Charlie Sheen) are now about the same age developmentally, it remains to be seen who will grow up first.

Alan (Jon Cryer) is as clueless as ever, but may have the opportunity to patch things up with Judith (Marin Hinkle.)  Evelyn (Holland Taylor) steps in more than once to make her opinion heard and disregarded, and Berta (Conchata Ferrell) is still the glue holding the family together.

Two and a half Men is always on target with laughs, outrageously so at times, but still so funny that even multiple viewings of episodes do not dull the comedic impact.  After six seasons together the cast works like a well oiled machine to deliver the story and the humor.

We’ve watched Angus T. Jones change from an adorable little boy to a surly teen in his role of Jake and he is still so very funny.  It is to his credit that in this season’s special feature interviews his colleagues speak high praise for his abilities and his intelligence.  He is playing Jake as a knucklehead, to use an old word, so convincingly that it is almost touching at times.

Then the teenage attitude kicks in and we see that he shows promise (for good or ill) of being a match for his Uncle Charlie. Jake is unlike his brainy, uptight and rather persnickety (another old word) father, and until this season has not shown any indication of taking after his uncle.  Now we are not so sure.

He remains rather untouched by what is going on around him, more interested in food and a smart phone than anything else.  However, there is a glimmer of something happening, and it will be interesting to see how the writers treat the character in the future.

Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn creators of the show express a great fondness for both the character Jake and the actor Angus, and see his maturing as an opportunity for expanding story lines.

Two and a half Men:  The Complete 6th Season is presented on four discs containing all 24 episodes.  This has a combined running time of 513 minutes.

The discs are packed in a multi-disc single box, and an insert is included with synopses of the episodes, production notes and is illustrated with stills from the season.  Special features for the set include a featurette “Two and a Half Men:  Growing up Harper” which is an in depth look at the character of Jake Harper.

In informative interviews with actor Angus T. Jones viewers are given the opportunity to see what Jake is like in real life as Angus, as well as explore his interpretation of the character he plays.

The second featurette is “The Women of Two and a Half Men” and takes a look at the feminine element in the show through the work of Holland Taylor, Conchata Ferrell, and Marin Hinkle.  The final special is a gag reel, with actors flubbing lines or breaking into laughter at odd moments.

It is obvious that cast and crew enjoy each other’s company, most likely an important element in making the show a success.
