It\'s a hilarious haunted Halloween in the Hundred Acre Wood. Roo\'s new best pal, Lumpy, is excited to trick or treat for the first time...until Tigger warns them about the dreaded Gobloon who\'ll turn you into a Jaggedy Lantern if he catches you. But if they catch the Gobloon before it catches them, they get to make a wish! With Roo by his side, Lumpy knows he can face anything. ...more
Trick or treat? In some ways a little of both in that the film is mostly an episode of the Pooh television show, but it’s definitely a treat to hear John Fielder voice Piglet one last time.
The 100-Acre Wood gang is preparing for Halloween. Roo (Jimmy Bennett) and his Heffalump friend Lumpy (Kyle Stanger) are looking forward to spending their first Halloween together. Over at Piglet’s (John Fielder) house, Pooh (Jim Cummings) loses control of his appetite and eats all the Halloween candy and it looks like the holiday is not going to happen.
Tigger (Cummings again) tells the two youths about the legend of the Gobloon. If you catch this particular spookable you’ll get your wish but if he catches you you’ll be transformed into a Jaggedy Lantern.
The duo decides to hunt down the Gobloon and wish all the candy back. Along the way Roo tells Lumpy about the time that Piglet’s being scared nearly ruined Halloween for all his friends.
Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie is a direct-to-video sequel to the Heffalump Movie (both 2005). The Halloween movie hit DVD store shelves in 2005 and this new edition features that disc. The only new addition to that original release is this new edition comes in a plastic oversized box that includes a Winnie the Pooh Halloween plush.
Long time Pooh fans will know that John Fielder had been voicing Piglet since 1977 when he was chosen was cast in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Cancer would claim him in 2005 and the Halloween Heffalump movie would mark the last time that he would lend his voice to the character.
Another sad thing is that the film is really only half new. When Lumpy and Roo set down and tell the tale of Piglet it’s an episode of the Winnie the Pooh television show. So only the wrap around story about the Gobloon is a new addition. Not that your kids will care, at least not the younger ones that this flick is aimed towards.
Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie is presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1) and is enhanced for 16x9 televisions. Special features include four games and several printables on the DVD-ROM side.
I suppose it’s historical to hear John Fielder’s last trip into the 100-Acre Wood, but the results will certainly entertain the kiddies – the younger the better. This release only adds a plush toy so if you have the old release that’s all the new you’d be getting.
Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie (Limited Edition with Plush) is now available at Amazon. As of yet, there is not a release date for this version of the DVD in the UK. Visit the DVD database for more information.
