Super Friends: The Lost Episodes is a collection of 24 cartoon shorts that you may not have seen since they were first shown in the late 1970’s. Made for the Super Friends Saturday morning show, these adventures were not actually lost, but were aired in the later incarnations of Superhero cartoons after the Saturday show was cancelled.
Cartoon adventures are so much a part of childhood memories. In the past the scheduling of cartoons varied greatly by one’s geography, not only by the region in which you lived, but also in the size of the town or city that housed the television station.
Because of competition with local live programming, some of us were up before dawn to watch our favorite cartoons, others might see them in the late afternoon, or worst case, not at all. It might be on a visit to cousins who lived in a big city that you would discover something existed called the Super Friends.
Once you saw these adventures, you wanted more. Super Hero cartoons brought to life the characters that were beloved in your favorite comic books. In these television shows, you saw your heroes save the world with integrity and honor, and with justice for the innocent as their creed.
Watching these stories it was fun to imagine that you had some of the same abilities and power, and wonder of wonders you finally learned how to pronounce Mr. Mxyzptlk’s name.
Super Friends: The Lost Episodes is presented on two discs, containing 24 episodes, with a total running time of 172 minutes. The cartoons are available in English and Portuguese audio, with English, French or Portuguese subtitles.
As a special feature, there are 2 Super Friends comic book adventures than can be downloaded from the DC Comics vault. These are “The Mindless Immortal” and “Wendy and Marvin Meet the JLA.”
The Super Friends are Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna. In addition to these DC Comics favorites, there are other super friends Apache Chief, Samurai, and El Dorado who add their talents and abilities to the fight against crime and evil.
Each adventure runs about seven minutes and they are arranged in groups of three, much like one would have seen in the original show format, except there are no commercials! Some of the cartoons are excellent, and some are not so great, but taken in its entirety this is a fun DVD for fans and collectors alike.

Grab your bowl of cereal if you were a morning cartoon viewer, or your bowl of popcorn if you saw Super Friends in the afternoon, and settle in to watch the adventures. This DVD will bring back memories and provide excellent entertainment.
