Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience – Blu-ray Review
By Jeff Swindoll Jun 29, 2009, 16:58 GMT

Put yourself in the middle of the Jonas Brothers motion picture debut with the ultimate Extended 3D Concert Experience only on Blu-ray Hi-Def. It doesn t get any better than this as Kevin, Joe, and Nick invite you inside their personal world for an all inclusive look at the band. The 3D picture looks so incredible you ll think you can reach out and touch the brothers, and the theater-quality ...more
The Jonas Brothers appear to be following in the dance steps of Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus as they tried to recreate the box officer performance of her 3D concert. They’ve even headed to the small screen with a TV series, but I’d imagine that Miley is the more successful one.
If you’re over a certain age, the names Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas will mean nothing to you. If you’re under a certain age (or have those ages in your household) then those names will elicit screams, but not of horror (well, maybe if you’re of the older variety) but of adoration.

The Jonas Brothers are trying to be the new Beatles, but in my opinion they’ll never achieve the heights of that bug-themed super group. To their fans they may achieve such heights, but history will prove them to be a bit of bubblegum pop. The trio repeats the 3D concert experience that earned Miley Cyrus so much money some time ago.
The Jonas’ keep up the Beatles reference by having a “day in the life” happen before they end up going on stage and doing their tunes, but again I’d say that the elder rock stars did it better but I’m just an old coot compared to the Jonas’ audience.
The boys are joined in the concert by guest stars Demi Lovato, who co-starred in Camp Rock and has a Disney show all her own, and pop star Taylor Swift also shows up as well.
The boys get to play with the 3D aspect so expect things to jump out at you and some of these effects are done rather creatively. If you’re a fan of course this will mean much more to you. I’m a bit indifferent to the young lads, but my daughter is more in their fan demographic.
The Jonas Brothers: 3D Concert Experience is presented in a 1080p high definition transfer (1.85:1). You get both the 3D version, with four pairs of glasses, and the 2D version on the Blu-ray. It’s an extended version of the film that has two extra songs.
The 2D version is also available on a DVD and a digital copy for your PC or portable device. Special features are presented in high definition. They include two additional songs running 7 minutes and the 15 minute “Up Close & Personal” detailing the Jonas’ “Burning Up” tour.

The Jonas Brothers are an acquired taste and will depend on your age group. If you’re one of their screaming fans then this Blu-ray will be for you. If you’re older you might want to pick it up for your kids or grandkids to scream about. The special features feel somewhat light but if you pick it up you’ll get it in all formats.
