There was a time when women dreamed of Prince Charming, a lovely home and beautiful babies. Well they still dream of having these things, but add to them wealth, position and power and you have The Cashmere Mafia, four women who have it all. This exciting, funny, touching series will have both men and women riveted to the television set.
Imagine that if you found your husband cheating, you would have the money and power to go after revenge, but with class.
This is not “Cheaters” and getting even has never been so much fun to watch, or so fraught with craziness as when Juliet CEO of her own company(Miranda Otto) tries to pay back her husband for having an affair with someone they both know.
Then there is Mia (Lucy Liu) who beats her fiancée out of a job, loses him and is labeled the bi*** in heels at her publishing company. Zoe (Frances O’Conner) a top business executive is heartbroken when her children build a working mommy bear for her “I can’t talk now, I’m on a conference call,” while on a play date with a stay-at-home mom.
And finally there is Caitlyn (Bonnie Somerville) a top marketing executive who know instinctively what other people want, just not what she wants out of life. Friends since their business school days, these four women are The Cashmere Mafia. They are both family and friends to each other, helping in emotional times and strengthening the attributes that make them successful in the business world.
While the power and money of these women is something most of us can only imagine, their reactions and relationships are very real. The audience feels sympathy for the problems and cheers the progress toward or development of a solution. How refreshing to see problems handled in a clever and classy manner.
How very civilized of these women that are in a traditionally men’s world, of cut-throat actions, selfish decisions, and get-ahead manipulations. They manage to move ahead, gain power and prestige and never lose their humanity and their souls.
Cashmere Mafia - The Complete Series is presented on two discs nicely packaged in plastic boxes illustrated with beautiful stills from the production. Notes for each episode and specials features are on the back of each case. The show is available in closed captioned English, and has subtitles available in Chinese, Korean and Thai. Running time for the episodes is 294 minutes.
The special features are great fun, “Revenge Sex: You Get as Good as You Give,” “Move In or Move Out, “ “Kiss My Glass Ceiling” and “Pick a Team, Any Team.” These add to the understanding of the series and its characters, and are very interesting. It is a nice collection of a series that ended too soon.
One can imagine the lives of the heroines continuing in further adventures, beautifully clothed, displaying impeccable manners and succeeding in everything they attempt to do!
