Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus are never seen in the same place. I’m really beginning to think that they’re the same person, just like you never see Clark Kent and Superman together. Actually Miley and her alter ego take to the stage to wow us in 3-D in the hottest tween event of last summer.
Best of Both Worlds goes down as the highest grossing 3-D movie ever. The film was only available in theaters for a limited engagement, February 1-7, 2008, and went on to pull in 70 million dollars in that limited time. Put another notch in Miley Cyrus’ belt for that one.
If you’ve been living under a rock for several years, you may not know that Miley Cyrus and her alter ego Hannah Montana have been burning up the Disney Channel as well as selling several tons of CDs. The Disney Company sought to channel the popular performer into this 3-D concert movie.
Not only do we get some great songs and concert footage but we also get to see the behind-the-scenes footage. It gives the show a documentary feel. We get to see Miley at play as well as being choreographed by High School Musical director Kenny Ortega.
He’s not the only guest as she’s joined onstage by the Jonas Brothers. They also step out into the crowd to show footage of the screaming Hannah Montana fans (don’t turn up the volume on those parts – ouch!) as well as interview some of them.
Miley spends the first half of the concert as the blond wigged Hannah and after a set by the Jonas Brothers steps back as Miley to do a set of songs. She also appears with her famous father Billy Ray Cyrus.
Speaking of fathers, the funniest moment in the documentary footage is a foot race with the daddies in high heels to win some Hannah Montana tickets.
The Blu-ray features a crystal clear picture and high detail. You get both versions of the concert, the 3-D version as well as the 2-D version. You also get four pairs of 3-D glasses for the family or three of your screaming friends.
The Best of Both Worlds is presented in a 1080p high definition transfer (1.85:1). Special features include a high def option to sing along with Hannah and Miley via onscreen lyrics as she belts out the songs.
This feature isolates a selection of eight of the songs into a 28-minute block or you can pick your favorite one. There are also two bonus songs, S.O.S. (Jonas Brothers) and Good and Broken (both 3 minutes), which are presented in high definition.
Next is the standard definition 11-minute “Ultimate Personal Tour” where Miley and the Jonas Brothers take you behind the scenes.
The Best of Both Worlds Concert features some powerful musical numbers by both Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus. Even if you’re not a fan of the television show you’ll enjoy the show.
The Blu-ray is awfully close to being there as the picture is so clear, not the mention the 3-D effects. It’s really an awesome concert whether you’re a tween or just a tween at heart.
