If a poll was taken to determine who really enjoyed their high school years, I imagine there would be very few positive responses.
Almost every person thinks he or she is a geek, or a nerd, or just an average nothing special kind of kid during his or her high school days.
By the time you figure out that everyone feels this way, you are an adult, and it doesn’t matter anymore.
Picture This is the story of Mandy Gilbert, (Ashley Tisdale) normal teenager who wants two things in her life, the latest video phone and for Drew Patterson (Robbie Amell) to take notice.
This is a very real seeming teen movie, about love and cell phones. Although some of the situations are somewhat improbable, the script is written and performed so well as to be convincing to the kids and interesting to adult viewers.
Ashley Tisdale is completely natural, playing a girl who is different from the “in crowd” but obviously has so much to offer with brains and character that she is comfortable with herself. She has had a crush for years on high school heart throb Drew Patterson and decides that before she finishes the “hell that is high school” she is going to make him notice her in return.
In spite of the mean girl’s tactics of Lisa (Cindy Busby) Drew’s former girlfriend and her cronies to humiliate her, Mandy goes on with her life and plans. Like any teenager, she pushes against rules, and her father Tom (Kevin Pollak) who is way too controlling makes life unreasonably hard for the girl.
She recognizes that he loves her and has her well-being at the heart of his rules, but they seem so harsh, especially when he quadruple grounds her on the night of Drew’s big party.
Trust is always a huge issue between parents and children, and this story shows the problems on both sides of the question. There are lessons for everyone in this film, which comes from the heart, has lots of laughs and touches the emotions of both young and old alike.
Picture This is presented in widescreen format on single disc, with a running time of 99 minutes. It has Spanish and French subtitles available.
Special features for the film include, Making of Picture This Featurette, Cell phone Confessions featurette, Scene selected cell phone “Text” Commentary Between Shenae and Lauren and Picture This Trivia Quiz.
