I disagree with this review. I thought the movie was very well made. It held my interest and I liked how they split up the three stories. It does present a one-sided argument, but is still worth watching.
You are correct when you say the performances of some high paid actors was anything but convincing. However, if you lived through the Vietnam war era this movie certainly portrays politicians in the right light. They haven't changed. Elitist college students haven't changed, they're still better than everyone else and they will rule the world. Ya, right! The young men and women who truly appreciate what they have and are willing to put themselves in harms way truly deserve the nations support, not it's disadain or mockery.
'Lions for Lambs' 'began the current trend for films about the war crashing at the box office' - umm, no - The Kingdom which shares a screenwriter with Lions for Lambs, In the Valley of Elah and Rendition all opened up before Lions for Lambs last Fall and all were high-profile releases that failed to live up to expectations. Also, Cruise did a great job in the film and if anyone is distracted by his oh so horrible 'antics' off-screen then maybe they should stop watching films in general as it's obvious they have no idea how to separate art from life.
