i am one day ahead of seeing the DVD but have seen the film itslf several
times disagreeing with this critic as is my right. i had found the earlier film a little silly and therefore welcomed the tightening and more cerebral qualities of the new version. What seriously bothers me is that you have not done your homework and think that Law lacks experience
on the stage when in reality he had years of experience on the stage and
won awards in Britain and for the Broadway production of Les parents
Terribles (the Cocteau play) not to mention having done 'tis pity she's a
Whore' and 'Dr.Faustus' on the London stage and is scheduled to do HAMLET
in London starting May of 2009, it's run is already sold-out) Sounds to me
like plenty of experience.

Of course it's your right to disagree - in fact I welcome it! Makes my job more interesting. As far as your comments concerning Jude Law go...ehh, I was aware that his got his start on stage in the late eighties with National Music Youth Theatre but since his rise to big-screen fame in the late nineties, I think even you'll have to agree that theatre has taken a distant second place to remaking Michael Caine pics. Tis Pity was almost ten years ago and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he poorly received in 'Dr.Faustus'? It wasn't that he lacked experience so much as that his track record on the stage is spotty and that continues with this film - essentially a play on screen. That being said, I'm a fan of Law in the right projects but I stand by my opinion that he comes up lacking in this pic.
