DVD Review: I Know Who Killed Me
By Jeff Swindoll Nov 26, 2007, 12:27 GMT

The story centers on Aubrey Fleming (Lohan), a woman who is rescued after being abducted and tortured by a serial killer. When Fleming arrives home she claims to be a different person. This poses questions as to whether she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or if something more sinister is afoot. ...more
We find out who “killed” Lindsay Lohan’s character during the course of the film, but its Lohan’s off screen antics that may have mortally wounded her career (only time will tell). The film plays like a horror twist on one of her earliest roles.
Aubrey Fleming (Lindsay Lohan) is a college student who puts her heart into writing stories. There’s a serial killer on campus and one girl had been abducted and her mutilated body has just been found and this sends the campus into a tizzy. The killer likes to sever the limbs of his victims and everyone is on edge.

The killer abducts Aubrey and her parents (Julia Ormond and Neil McDonough) are beside themselves with terror. A short time later Aubrey is found, missing her right arm and leg but alive, but she insists that she’s not Aubrey but an exotic dancer named Dakota Moss. Aubrey’s parents take her home and try to convince her that she’s suffered a traumatic experience that has developed this alternative personality from one of her stories to deal with the loss of limb and terror associated with it.
However, Dakota keeps insisting that she’s not Aubrey and the psychiatrist cannot find the usual holes in the story that betrays this kind of split personality. Dakota keeps insisting that the killer still has Aubrey and tries to solve the mystery of who the killer is before, she believes, Aubrey is killed.
I don’t think that anyone discussing this or any other Lohan films can do so without commenting on her personal travails that show up in the press. In Georgia Rule, she didn’t seem to be acting but to be performing a character that was the Lohan of the tabloids. With I Know Who Killed Me, she does appear to be playing a character, but there’s also that “bad girl” of the tabloids seeping through.
However, she’s not too bad since our exotic dancer only lets the other gals in the club take off their tops and just writes around in exotic lingerie – that’s why I didn’t say that she plays a stripper. So those expecting a glance at Lohan’s ta-tas will have to look elsewhere.
The mystery isn’t exactly a hard one to figure out as far as the killer goes since I spotted who the baddie was at their first appearance on the screen. The mystery of whether Aubrey is really Dakota or vice versa is also easy to figure out and plays like a horror version of a certain Disney movie that Lohan starred in.

The film certainly isn’t one of her best; in fact she seems somewhat lethargic. The film definitely won’t do anything to revive her cinematic career.
I Know Who Killed Me is presented in both fullscreen and anamorphic widescreen (2.40:1) and is enhanced for 16x9 televisions. You’ll be asked to choose your flavor when you hit the play button.
Special features include a 1-minute alternative opening (not really anything exciting) and a 1-minute alternate ending (that makes it seem like the preceding film could’ve been one of Aubrey’s stories).
The 6-minute “Extended Strip Sequence” just appears to be an uninterrupted performance of what we see in the film. There’s also a 2-minute blooper reel and previews for other Sony DVDs.
I Know Who Killed Me is pretty obvious (Lindsay Lohan did it to herself!) and doesn’t offer many surprises. It’s actually pretty old hat and Lohan doesn’t offer much of a performance to make it worthwhile (and they said she was the talented one compared with Britney and Paris).

I Know Who Killed Me is now available at Amazon. It is available for pre-order at AmazonUK for a Jan. 28th release. Visit the DVD database for more information.

I've seen Blade Runner and I Know Who Killed Me is definatley no Blade Runner. In fact, Blade Runner will be on best of lists of decades and I Know will be forgotten to mediocrity. Without giving too much of the plot away, what you say about Dakota is not true. Only if you look at the alternate ending do you get any indication that what you say could be true. The plot makes it clear that what you say is wrong about that particular

I know who killed me, is one of the best movies of summer 2007. I have never seen so many critics misunderstand a movie since 1982 when half the movie critics gave 'Blade Runner' a bad review.
I Know who killed me is not about a twin named Dakota, that is a decoy plot. Critics are giving their opinion on the decoy story.
The movie is not about Dakota, there is no Dakota. The movie is about Aubrey and how she uses her imagination to solve the mystery of who is killing her. I know who killed me is a good movie.
