Both Bournes are presented in anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) and enhanced for 16x9 televisions. This set includes the previous releases of The Bourne Identity and Supremacy so the extras are the same as the explosive extended edition of Identity and previous edition of Supremacy.
The new disc adds a series of documentaries about Robert Ludlum and his involvement with the first film before his death in 2001. The first item is a 2-minute sneak peek at the Bourne Ultimatum, which will be in theaters on August 3, 2007.
The 12 minute “Ludlum Identity” interviews Robert Ludlum (in vintage footage), actor/friend of Ludlum James Karen, Ludlum’s literary agent/executive producer Henry Morrison, CEO of Ludlum Entertainment/executive producer Jeffrey Weiner, author Eric Van Lustbader, and editor of the Ludlum Companion Martin Greenberg. The “Ludlum Conspiracy” runs 12 minutes and adds interview footage with producer Frank Marshall.
The “Ludlum Ultimatum” runs 23 minutes and delves more into the current film series. It has interviews with producer Paul L. Sandburg, producer/director (of the Bourne Identity) Doug Liman, producer Patrick Crowley, Matt Damon, director (of Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum) Paul Greengrass.
The Bourne films are definitely action packed and were more to what Ludlum wanted (he was involved with Identity before his death). What you have to decide is if the third disc is enough to get you to buy this set.
If you’ve not bought the films before then this new release offers a good way to get the collection and some new special features. I thought the Ludlum documentaries on the third disc were very good but you’ll have to decide if they’re worth it to you.
The Bourne Files 3-Disc Collection is now available at Amazon . As of yet, this collection is not available in the UK. Visit the DVD database for more information.
