The television series starring Anthony Michael Hall and based on the book from Stephen King is in its fifth season and continues on with the quality that has come to be expected from this series that I never thought would work.
What the back of the box says: “Based on the characters and story from the best-selling book by Stephen King, The Dead Zone is a unique psychological thriller that combines a rich mix of action, the paranormal and a continuing quest for justice.”

If you would’ve asked me if they could’ve made a television series from Stephen King’s novel the Dead Zone, I would’ve been skeptical that it would’ve worked. Add to the mix ‘80s film star Anthony Michael Hall and I would’ve definitely had my doubts.
However, the Dead Zone has become one of the best shows on television and Hall has proven that his fame in the ‘80s was no fluke, but a series of bad films made his star seem less bright. This season only continues the fine show and performances with cast members Chris Bruno and John L. Adams also stepping behind the camera this season.
The Dead Zone is presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1) and enhanced for 16x9 televisions. Special features include deleted scenes for Articles of Faith, Lotto Fever, Revelations, and the Hunting Party. There are also commentaries on Independence Day (actor/director Chris Bruno, actor Dylan Bruno, and creator/producer Shawn Pillar), Articles of Faith (actor Anthony Michael Hall, DVD producer Rob Chynoweth, and director Michael Taylor), Revelations (actor/director John L. Adams and writers James Morris and Shintaro Shimosawa), and the Hunting Party (producers Tommy Thompson and Lloyd Segan and writer Adam Targum).
On disc 5 is the 13 minute “A Day with JLA” which follows actor John L. Adams when he gets up in the morning and through his shooting day. The 15 minute “The Other Side of the Camera” concentrates on the two actors that set behind the camera for this season. There are interviews with actor/director Chris Bruno, executive producers Lloyd Segan and Shawn Pillar, actor/director John L. Adams, and actor Dylan Bruno (who’s also Chris’ brother).
The Dead Zone has consistently been a surprise and one of the better shows on television these days. Anthony Michael Hall has proved himself a good actor and worthy of this starring role. This season only continues the fine track record of this excellent show.
The Dead Zone - The Complete Fifth Season is now available at Amazon . As of yet, there is not a release date for the UK. Visit the DVD database for more information.
