A good revue by someone who understand that this is an interesting study of lives that become entwined through the quixotic whims of fate and in the clash
move on to resolutions. But the character studies enable us to understand and
appreciate the life solutions that eventually bring the film to a close in which
everyone gets what they want.THe performances were all perfect although I would
have liked a couple of the deleted scenes to have been included (the flirting
scenes centering about Will) which showed that he had begun his quest for some
kind of release from the constraining effects of this union with Liv that was
not working well anymore. The arc from a light-hearted Will to a smiling Will
would have been complete. In between Jude shows us Will's frustration and
attempts to make things right with the right touch. The women are perfect and the children are unbelievably adept at their parts. In fact all the small roles, as is usual in Minghella films, are wonderful and this is, in the end, a very satisfying film.
