Jeff Foxworthy brings his “you might be a redneck” brand of humor to CMT (that’s Country Music Television for ya’ll whitenecks) and has a gaggle of country music stars to join him in the humor.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy brings his blue collar schtick to the appreciative audience at CMT.  Jeff brings with him two regulars from Blue Collar TV, Brooke Dillman and Jeff Oldring.  He adds comedians Shane Caldwell and Sara Erikson to his cast of comedy performers.  He also has a jiggle group (that’s hot babes who shake their moneymakers in dance numbers – yeehaw!) called the Homewreckers that perform dance numbers in portions of the show.

He also has comedian Kathleen Madigan on to find instances of redneck-edness across the globe and resident hypnotist Mark Sweet.  The show usually goes like this: the guest star introduces Foxworthy and he does a solo opening monologue, the guests participate in a sketch, a sketch with the regulars, Redneck word of the day, a musical performance by the guest, and then the guest and Foxworthy do the closing comedy bit.  Oddly, the musical guest’s final performance that closes the show is cut off by the closing credits.  It is too bad that they didn’t include the whole final performance on the DVD set.

If you liked Blue Collar TV then this seems like more of the same.  If you liked that show then you’ll enjoy this set and if you didn’t then you probably won’t.  Some of the bits fare better than others as well as some of the guest stars are more apt at comedy that others.  Billy Currington seems particularly like a deer in headlights and the inclusion of a hypnotist seems like something that you’d see on the Osmond’s variety hour.

Disc 1 features Kenny Rogers, Sara Evans, Trace Adkins, Pat Green, The Wreckers, Joe Nichols, Billy Currington, Montgomery Gentry.  Disc 2 features The Warren Brothers, Jack Ingram, Blake Shelton, and Hank Williams, Jr.

Foxworthy’s Big Night Out is presented in fullscreen as they were originally aired on television.  Special features include 6 minutes of bloopers including some with the guest stars.  There’s also 15 minutes of “The Best of Jeff’s Monologues” which is strange since they seem to be the exact ones that appear on the show – seems sorta pointless.

The 35 minutes of “behind-the-scenes” is just that and there are 12 minutes of video bios of the Homewreckers.  “Fitness with the Cast” features 10 minutes of the cast working out – um okay.  Finally there are previews for other Paramount DVDs.

Foxworthy does some of the same schtick that was found on his Blue Collar TV show, but without his co-stars Ron White, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy.  If you liked that show then this one features more of the same and adds two familiar performers from that show.  The funny seemed to outweigh the not-so-funny, so I enjoyed it.

Foxworthy's Big Night Out - The Complete Series is now available at Amazon. As of yet, there is not a release date for the UK. Visit the DVD database for more information.
