Certainly a fair review of Johnny Cash's 1993 Ireland concert. What I felt compelled to add was a personal note. As the second last song came around I found myself very close to tears and re-remembering and re-feeling how much Johnny Cash and June Carter - their MUSIC of course, had been surrogate parents to me.
Not replacements as if my own ignored me, but how much their music was and is my friend, my comforter, and my companion in life. I had the pleasure of seeing them live in Halifax NS in 1973 and in Dartmouth NS in 1996 just before Johnnys heart surgery. Attending these events were an honor which will mean even more as the years pass.
I realized this 1993 concert was only 11 years, a mere blink of time before neither would walk this earth again and it hit me profoundly. I know I'm far from alone and that helps, but the concert certainly aroused some meloncholy as much as joy from the great performances.
