By Patrick Luce Jun 27, 2006, 14:17 GMT

Arena rockers Korn return to the intimate Hammerstein Ballroom to launch their new record "See You On The Other Side" for a group of their closest fans. Live On The Other Side brings you an up-front all-access pass to Korn, from the first chord to the closing bow and much more. Shot in High Definition and recorded in Digital Surround Sound, Korn Live On The Other Side delivers the Korn ...more
Korn: Live on the Other Side DVD captures the energy of the band’s live performances and demonstrates the power of the metal group to hold their fans in the palm of their hands from start to finish.
The concert lacks some of the studio polish of some bands’ concert DVDs, but does manage to put you on the front row of the show and right beside the screaming fans (who often throw themselves at the cameras in celebration of Korn’s music).
Korn has always thrived on a loyal audience and it is easy to see how the band’s members (Jonathan Davis [vocals], James "Munky" Shaffer [guitar], Fieldy [bass] and David Silveria [drums]) feed off the energy of the crowd. Korn has released eight albums and sold more than 25 million records worldwide since releasing their first album (the self-titled ‘Korn’) in 1995.
Live on the Other Side was filmed during a concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom, and features a number of Korn classics like “Freak on A Leash” and “Got the Life.” The DVD also features the band performing several songs from their new smash hit album ‘See You on the Other Side’ – such as the single “Liar.”
Along with new songs and Korn classics, Davis and company crank out some decent cover tunes including Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” (which was one of my personal favorites on the whole DVD) and “Goodbye Cruel World.”
The DVD was directed by Lawrence Jordan who uses a variety of camera angles and wide shots to make sure the home viewer can grasps the scope of the Hammerstein Ballroom. The rolling camera shots also help simulate the experience that the fans at the concert must have felt on the floor and in the mosh pits.

The DVD also includes the bonus features See You On The Other Side and See Who’s On The Other Side. Both features take you behind the scenes of the Korn tour, and give you a glimpse of how the band creates their music. They also feature interviews with Korn members and their fans (who join them on the road). The DVD also has the “Coming Undone” music video. There is also a jukebox feature that allows you organize the concert’s songs in the order you want to hear them. I thought this was a cool feature, and is probably something fans will enjoy.
Korn’s Live on the Other Side DVD is not something that everyone will enjoy, but fans of the band should check it out. It manages to capture the energy and hard edge that the band is famous for putting into their live performances. I would highly recommend it if you are a fan.
Live on the Other Side is now available at Amazon. As of yet, there is not a release date for the UK. Visit the DVD database for more information.
