Now while I have seen better movies there's on e thing I don't get. Why's everyone comparing a low budget DVD only movie to a superstar cast million $ trilogy like Lord of the Rings?? Am I the only one that finds it a tad bit illogical?
They did what they could with a budget even less than the prequel, so give them a break already!
It's a decent piece of work and solid entertainment and while it won't change your world (it wasn't meant to, remember?) it will not bore you to death either. If you know (and like) D&D you'll going to like the movie. If you just like Phantasy give it a fair go. If you don't like either, why bother?
I agree they did well for thier budget, I still watch the dvd from time to time. They should have shown more skin on Ellie Chidzey (Lux) though. they could have shown a few more races easily, like halflings and such. I thought it was a bit of a letdown that the goblin village was abandoned too. Since LOTR did so well, it makes me think that with a better buget, this movie would have been more successful.
I agree with Mick and Chuck, if you're a D&D fan, player or ex-player you'll sit down in your comfy chair and enjoy seeing some of the monsters and races you might have come across in your many game-plays... Besides how often will you see Darkmattles or a Beholder in a movie???
I enjoyed it.

It's a decent movie and much better than the first D&D movie. So what if it didn't have a huge budget like Lord of the Rings it was a film made by fans of the game for fans of the game. The special effects weren't near as bad as some big budget holly wood releases (even some of the effects in the LOTR trilogy weren't all that great) and as stated before where else will you see dark mantles or for that matter a white dragon? The young and unknown cast was perfect.
And yes I would have liked more skin from Lux as well.
