With that said, you still have a question nagging at you do you not dear gore hound ? And that is, is this any good ? Is this something that is worth shelling out your hard earned cash for ?
In short – no.
We set off in 1968 (a nod to the timing of 'Night of the Living Dead' here), where the folk at a military base have their hands full on some Russian pilot and a virus ('Resident Evil' anyone ?). There are now zombies running amok and a special unit is called in with extreme prejudice. Just before we get a barrage of toy guns going pop, one of the lab folks steals a vial and places it in a thermos (oh perhaps 'Jurassic Park' ?) where it lies dormant in the grass for the next thirty five years or so.
Back to the present day and said thermos is found on the grounds of a metal health unit with your everyday nut job and schizoid being present in wonderful stereotypes. Add to the mix the good doctor, the young type with the heart of gold who means well and constantly battles with his superiors to give better care to his wards. Within moments you know that the flask will be opened and the havoc will rain down again…. And that’s exactly what happens.
The deadly spores contaminate anyone who comes into contact with them, cue lots of puking and bad not-so-special make up effects. The strange thing being that this is happening in a hospital of sorts and no one seems to mind the black goop coming from all the patients’ mouths at lunchtime or the very bad acne that seems to be spreading. Oh well, needless to say that they start getting a craving for human flesh and turn one by one into part of the zombie horde who are all surprisingly telepathically linked (a touch of 'Scanners' too) with one and other, well that is when the makers of this mess remember they have added in this plot line.
There are lots of gory effects to be had, but only enjoyable if extremely forgiving or well on your way to a drunken oblivion (I will give them the credit that they did at least try on this one, hence the review single star).

OK, I may seem a little harsh but this is a blatant rip off and trying for an easy cash cow. This movie should have been released as a stand alone movie to avoid any comparisons with the far better Romero movies it wishes to join, but I guess the marketing folk behind this knew they had a rotting corpse of a movie on their hands. I will admit that it is not in the same league as Ken Wiederhorn’s ‘Return of the Living Dead Part 2’, which stills retains the title as the worst of the undead, but great it aint either.
The UK release comes thankfully on it’s own, and for those unlucky in the US you can hear all about what they were ripping off in the audio commentary from Writer/Co-Director Ana Clavell (so beware her next project entitled ‘Creepshow 3’), Producer/Co-Director James Glen Dudelson and Cinematographer James M. LeGoy, and for your extra enjoyment you also get to see how this was made.
You have been warned !
