Lionsgate brings Tyler Perry back to DVD in July

LionsGate has announced these upcoming DVD releases of Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns and Tyler Perry's House of Payne: Volume Two on July 1st.

Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns:

Produced, written and directed by Perry, Meet the Browns is based on his popular stage production of the same name and was hailed "lively and funny" by The Washington Post.

Starring Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett (What's Love Got to Do with It), Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns is a charming story about the joys of family and the possibility of second chances. 

The 2-Disc Special Edition DVD includes four original featurettes, while the Blu-ray Disc contains those same four featurettes plus three additional featurettes, and both come with a standard-definition digital copy of the feature film. 

The standard single-disc DVD will include a Widescreen and Full Screen version of the film. 

Synopsis:

Brenda, a single mother living in inner city Chicago, has been struggling for years to make ends meet and keep her three kids off the street.  When she's laid off with no warning, she starts losing hope for the first time - until a letter arrives announcing the death of her father whom she's never met. 

Desperate for any kind of help, Brenda takes her family to Georgia for the funeral.  Nothing could prepare her for the Browns, her father's fun-loving crass Southern clan.  In a small town full of long afternoons and country fairs, Brenda struggles to get to know the family she never knew existed...and finds a brand new romance that just might change her life.

Tyler Perry's House of Payne: Volume Two:

Since premiering on TBS in June 2007, the show which premiered with the highest-rated ad-supported cable sitcom telecast of all time, received an unprecedented 100 episode pick-up by the network and won the Image Award for Best Comedy Series, Best Actor (LaVan Davis) and Best Supporting Actor (Lance Gross). 

The show that put the family back in family comedy, "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" focuses on a multi-generational clan forced to coexist under one roof.  Tyler Perry's House of Payne: Volume Two features 20 more episodes of the side-splitting comedies as well as featurettes and bloopers. 

Synopsis:

With its smart mix of comedy and drama, "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" focuses on a working class family that experiences all of life's struggles -- divorce, rehab, anger management and child custody -- with a special blend of faith, love and laughter. Pops, the head of the household, has his life and home disrupted when a house fire forces his nephew's family to move in, bringing together three generations under one roof. 

As chaos erupts, it soon becomes evident just how wide the generation gap is as the family makes its way through their hilarious ups and downs.  "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" tackles real life issues with great humor.  Guest appearances include Tyler Perry as "Madea."
