In its third year, Runway for Life raises money for research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. The event was co-chaired by designer Robert Ellis and the Thomas Family (Marlo, Terre and Tony Thomas) and sponsored by Buena Vista Home Entertainment to ensure all the proceeds benefited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
More than 1,000 guests witnessed the unforgettable “Runway meets Broadway”-style show, which followed a silent auction featuring high-end, one-of-a-kind items and a live-auction featuring “priceless” experience packages and more. The fashion show showcased women’s wear designer Robert Ellis, menswear by Sy Devore Menswear, hair by Vidal Sassoon and make-up by MAC.
Runway for Life event co-founders, Terre Thomas, daughter of St. Jude founder Danny Thomas, and designer Robert Ellis inaugurated Runway for Life in 2002. To date, the event has raised more than $3,000,000 to honor the dream of Danny Thomas that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
