'The Phantom of the Opera' will be released on May 3 in the US and May 2 in the UK

The DVD will be available in a single disc format and a 2 disc special edition. The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a disfigured musical genius who haunts the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera House, waging a reign of terror over its occupants.When he falls fatally in love with the lovely young soprano Christine, the Phantom devotes himself to creating a new star for the Opera. But she has another admirer, her childhood
sweetheart Raoul, the dashing young Vicompte de Chagny. The Phantom's fury at her betrayal becomes murderous. He hatches a plot to win her back and in a dramatic and tense climax Christine is forced to choose between Raoul and the Phantom - her Angel of Music.The stage musical sensation is brought to the screen by director Joel Schumacher's into a lavish film production, sweeping audiences to new heights of sight and sound grandeur. Gerard Butler (as the Phantom), Emmy Rossum (The National Board of Review Breakthrough Performance Award winner as Christine) and Patrick Wilson (as Raoul) play out the fateful love triangle that unfurls in splendor, suspense - and in the music of the night. I look forward to the 2disc set of Phantom of the Opera! I saw the film and was entranced. The musical score was lush, the performances were outstanding. Emmy Rossum as Christine and Patrick Wilson as Raoul were charming, but for me, Gerard Butler was the 'break through' performance.His interpretation of the Phantom left me breathless! When he is on screen you cannot take your eyes off of him.

I agree, it was a fantastic movie, looking forward to seeing the DVD. I have already pre-ordered this from Amazon. Gerard Butler made this movie for me, Joel Schumacher did a tremendous job with the beautiful sets, the costumes and the music CD is so much more emotion filled than the stage version.
