‘’I feel the need, the need for speed….’’
Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell
Described as “the type of movie that turns the screen into an altar” and the film “that has defined the modern day action blockbuster”, TOP GUN, starring the iconic TOM CRUISE (Mission Impossible, Collateral), is at last given the treatment it so fully deserves, in a special two disc edition.
Charting the rise of ace-pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, as he climbs the ladder of success amongst the elite at the US Air force training academy, Top Gun is the ultimate action blockbuster. Featuring defining cinematic characterisations, a classic soundtrack and high-octane set-pieces, it still enthrals audiences old and new nearly twenty years on.
Maverick and his contemporaries live life at a pace few can keep up with, and draw the audience in, sending pulses racing with excitement and adrenalin. The colourful characters have long since passed into cinema legend, and with superb central performances from Cruise, Val Kilmer (The Doors, Heat) and Kelly McGillis (Witness, The Accused), Top Gun easily earns its status as one of the finest films ever made
This Special Edition, two-disc DVD features over three and a half hours of bonus material. These include never-before-seen footage and interviews, commentaries from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott, a 7-part ‘making-of’ documentary, music videos and a fourteen-page booklet about the film.
A defining moment in cinematic history can now be experienced in a format that offers superior sound quality and extra features that will delight devotees of the original, and a new generation of fans alike.
TOP GUN: SPECIAL EDITION is available to own on DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment from 4th April 2005 RRP£19.99
