I would like to know what has happened since this article has been written in July of last year. Are there 'legal' Dvd copiers/descramblers out there?

Yes, you can make copies of encrypted DVDs on your home computer, but you have to have a decryption program that you run before you copy it. The legality of this practice is still being questioned and sparking debate between movie companies and consumers

I have 1Click DVD Copy 4.2, I also have DVD 43 , but when I tried to make a copy of The Pacifier, it wouldn't copy, I tried three time but each time it said it was copy protected. Why?

Get software that doesn't have copy protection.

I purchased DVD X Copy Xpress 6 mos. ago at a very popular Electronic store locally 6 mos. ago. I was never able to download program onto computer due to not enough memory. After waiting 2 mos. for a programming to come to my home to fix the problem I then moved & built a office & installed satelittle internet service and re-connected my entire computer system. 2 weeks later my main drive crashed. Now it is 6 mos. later & I have my computer up & running. Trying to activate DVD X Copy Xpress with my License ID & password has not been successful. I have just learned the company is out of business and the product pulled from the shelves. Does any one know if other owners of this product who registered & activated their product before 321 Studios went out of business is still able to fully function with their DVD X Copy Xpress program? If they are still able to use it, then how can I activate my also. Is there any contact information available who I can contact to turn in my unused program for an upgrade that will work? Electornic store will not refund my money for this program I purchased due to their policy is only a few days to return a product un-opened.

To all:
if your having problems copying movies now adays, more movies are coming out
in the double layer format. If you don't have a +R-DL burner and the program
that will burn double layer DVDs' your out of luck.

there coming up with better protection on dvds.
i would recommend using a little program called anydvd.
it runs in the background with your dvd copy program
ie. 1clickdvdcopy and de-scrambles the protection.

I can not actavite my program because the company is out of business. Does any one know how to get a pass word. I bought this from a well known electronic store but they will not take ot back because it has been opened and it was over a year when I bought it.

i was planning on buying dvdx platinum but then backed out as my son told me that the feds might be setting up a sting on the net. I thought it was legal to make copies of my movies for back up is this not the case? Instead of the movie companies spending tons of cash to make the movies harder to copy why don't they just make the disk more durable so folks do not have to copy them incase they get damaged? The obvious answer is they want us to come back and buy it again.

What the movie industry needs to do in order to prevent movie piracy, they need to have a program that would allow a consumer entitlement to a free replacement copy of a DVD they own in case it gets damaged or scratched. Since the movie industry is too cheap to do such courtesy, movie piracy will forever live on. As for you folks who are looking into making backups of your DVD ‘s, one thing I am certain is that it is becoming very difficult to make backup copies of your DVD’s due to more improved copy protection of programs
Two major programs that I have found successful in the back of a DVD are DVD decrypter and the DVD shrink. Both of these can be found online for free and in order to find them it is recommended that you do a Google search. Both programs are user friendly and have been successful in decrypting and compressing DVD’s up to date.
Since DVD decrypter it’s no longer supported or updated it is recommended that you also get an alternate program such as Slysoft Anydvd since this program is known for keeping up with updates to new copy protection and aids Decrypter in doing its job. Slysoft however is not free but the price is not outrageous and the benefits are great.
Having a dual layer DVD Burner only gives you the benefit of backing up a DVD without the need of compression. The program mentioned above which is DVD Shrink helps by compressing the movie to fit in a standard 4.7 GB DVD and still keep a great quality with subtitles and interactive menus. Hope this helps, good luck and happy burning.

I just had a computer built by tiger direct. I kept my original hard drive which has my dvd x copy platinum 321 still installed on it but i can't get my original password information to work. I bought my software from bestbuy when it first became available for purchase and now i'm puzzled on what i should do next. Anyone that can help me please send me a email at skblibra@yahoo.com.
