'High School Musical 2' cast celebrate DVD launch

Fans of High School Musical enjoyed a special sing-along screening of the upcoming Dec. 11th DVD & Blu-ray release of High School Musical 2: Extended Edition at a gala and red-carpet benefit for the Teen Impact program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles honoring Rich Ross, President of Disney Channel, Worldwide, at the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

In attendance were High School Musical stars Zac Efron (Troy), Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella), Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay), Corbin Bleu (Chad), and Monique Coleman (Taylor), along with Kaycee Stroh (Martha), Olesya Rulin (Kelsi), Chris Warren Jr. (Zeke), Ryne Sanborn (Jason) and director Kenny Ortega. Other Disney Channel stars in attendance included Kyle Massey, Jason Dolley and Madison Pettis (Cory in the House), Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan and Kiely Williams (The Cheetah Girls) and Moises Arias (Hannah Montana).High School Musical 2, the most highly anticipated sequel of the year, comes to DVD and Blu-ray High-Def in an extended edition on December 11th from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. There’s a special bonus musical scene available only on DVD and Blu-ray High-Def, seamlessly integrated into the film, in which audiences can finally see the musical number Troy and Sharpay rehearse in the film but never perform. The scene features Sharpay playing the Pineapple Princess looking for her Fresh Fish Prince in the lavish Polynesian fantasy "Humuhumunukunukua'pua'a", in which Sharpay goes all out to win Troy – and the Star Dazzle Award at the Midsummer Night's Talent Show. The number is complete with a hip hop ode to Mighty Mount Fufu. High School Musical 2 pops with more of the infectious music, high energy dancing and exuberant young cast that created worldwide High School Musical-mania, and brings back Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and the entire Wildcat gang in another spectacular must-own musical experience! High School Musical 2: Extended Edition is packed with bonus material including music videos and sing-along and karaoke features.Established in 1988, Teen Impact provides unique services to children and teens, including group and individual psychotherapy, three-day retreats and adventure therapy trips, plus special activities year-round. The mission of Teen Impact is to improve the quality of life for preteens, adolescents and young adults with cancer and blood diseases by providing peer-based group interventions within a safe and therapeutic milieu.

The Walt Disney Company has a long history of brightening the lives of children in need through global outreach programs, local community initiatives and the Disney VoluntEARS program. Last year, Disney donated $177 million in cash and in-kind support to various charities around the world. Since October 2006, Disney has committed over $16 million specifically to children’s hospitals across the U.S., including a $5 million donation to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles towards the construction of a new hospital building, slated to open in 2009. Disney Imagineers designed the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles' main lobby and Disney regularly provides DVDs, toys, blankets and visits from Disney Characters to children's hospitals worldwide.
