Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the DVD release of Angel-A - an “extraordinary” story of redemption from director/writer Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, The Professional).
This Sony Pictures Classics film stars Jamel Debbouze (She Hate Me) and Rie Rasmussen (Femme Fatale) and will be available on DVD on November 20th for a suggested retail price of $29.95. The DVD will include a “Making-Of” featurette.
Working with his frequent collaborator, cinematographer Thierry Arbogust (The Fifth Element, La Femme Nikita), Luc Besson stepped behind the camera for the first time in six years to film a story that he had begun writing more then ten years ago.
Besson and Arbogust have crafted a dream-like Paris as the backdrop for Angel-A and, in Besson’s own words, “my first great thrill in making this film was to rediscover Paris.” The director calls the result “a declaration of love” to that city.
Synopsis:
From the director of The Professional and The Fifth Element comes a stunning, sexy tribute to the healing power of love. When André, a down-on-his-luck gambler, dives into the icy Seine to end it all, he winds up instead rescuing Angela, a gorgeous, mysterious blonde. Filled with renewed passion for life, they set out to settle André’s scores as they wander the City of Lights.
Along the way, André finds himself, but he still has some questions about his leggy, lovely companion – can she really be as heavenly as she seems? Filled with wit, warmth and eye-popping visuals, Angel-A shows just how high you can soar when passion takes flight.
