Misery loves company. MGM Home Entertainment presents the terrifying tale of one fan’s extreme obsession when Misery: Collector’s Edition hits the bestseller list on DVD October 2nd for a suggested retail price of $19.98.
Directed by Rob Reiner (The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally) and written by two-time Oscar winner William Goldman (All The President’s Men, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) from the popular novel by Stephen King; Misery features outstanding supporting performances from Lauren Bacall (Birth, Dogville), Richard Farnsworth (The Straight Story, The Getaway) and Frances Sternhagen (The Mist, “ER”).
Starring James Caan (“Las Vegas,” The Godfather) and Kathy Bates (Bee Movie, About Schmidt) in the role that won her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1991, Misery follows Paul Sheldon (Caan), a novelist who has garnered fame and fortune through his literary heroine “Misery Chastaine.” After a near fatal car crash, Sheldon is saved by his “number one fan” Annie Wilkes (Bates).
