Director Edgar Wright and actor Nick Frost, creators of the cheeky zombie flick homage "Shaun of the Dead" and now the send up to the Jerry Bruckheimers of the world in their latest action-comedy "Hot Fuzz" made an appearance at Comic-Con 2007.
Minus fellow satirist and star Simon Pegg, Wright and Nick Frost signed autographs and gamely fielded questions from fans to celebrate the July 31, 2007 DVD release of "Hot Fuzz" at Comic-Con. Their jovial presence graced Sails Pavilion Autograph Area in the massive San Diego Convention Center late afternoon on July 27th.
The film has loads of nods to some of the action genre’s “best” films (Bad Boys and Point Break most notable) and a few winks to the Wright and company’s horror roots (The Wicker Man).
“Hot Fuzz” Synopsis: Top London cop, Police Constable Nicholas Angel - finds himself reassigned to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighborhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman, an oafish but well meaning young Constable.
Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems. He literally drives his coworkers. oh so tired of his quest for law enforcement excellence, to banish him to the idyllic English countryside, where ostensibly, nothing happens out of the norm.
