Eragon flies onto DVD and Blu-ray on March 20th

As darkness falls in the magical land of Alagaësia, the last dragon will choose its rider… and the final battle between good and evil will begin.  A heroic tale both adventurous and enchanting, Eragon is a lavish fantasy adventure-epic for a new generation of dreamers that will soar onto DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) March 20th from Fox Home Entertainment.

The film will be released in a premium two-disc Special Edition DVD a suggested retail price of $34.08, a single disc DVD version for a suggested retail price of $29.98, and on Blu-ray for $39.98.

Based on the first thrilling chapter of the epic Inheritance Trilogy  by author Christopher Paolini, a  child prodigy whose rise to literary fame is a fantasy tale unto itself, Eragon  became an instant  bestseller and worldwide phenomenon that has sold  over five million copies in North America alone  and spent 87 consecutive weeks on The New York Times Bestseller List.

Grand in scale and sweeping  in scope, the stunning cinematic realization of Paolin i’s vivid saga is hatched  from the brilliant minds  of the digital wizards at the industry’s most in-demand visual effects houses – WETA Digital (Lord Of  The Rings, King Kong) and Industrial Light & Magic (Star Wars, Jurassic Park).

Packed with “nonstop action, spectacular effects and an inspiring story about believing in yourself,” Eragon stars Academy  Award-winners Jeremy Irons ( Reversal Of Fortune) and Rachel Weisz ( The Constant Gardener ), along with John Malkovich ( In the Line of Fire ), Robert Carlyle ( The Full Monty ), Djimon Hounsou  (Blood Diamond) and talented newcomer Ed Speleers in the title role.
 
The premium two-disc Eragon Special Edition DVD experience will immerse viewers into the mystical world of Alagaësia with hours of dazzling bonus materials such as several comprehensive featurettes about the making of the film, the stunning visual effects and the mythology behind Paolini’s magical world, plus deleted/extended scenes, origin al storyboards, conceptual art gallery, director audio commentary, character profiles and much more.

Synopsis: 
In a kingdom ravaged by darkness and tyranny, one small ray of hope emerges when Eragon (Speelers) finds a mysterious blue “stone” that turns out to be the last dragon’s egg in existence.  From the moment it hatches, their fates are forever entwined, as Eragon and the dragon Saphira (voiced by Rachel Weisz) join forces with the help of his mentor Brom (Irons) to battle the evil King Galbatorix (Malkovich) and his demonic sorcerer Durza (Carlyle).   

The Eragon single disc DVD is presented in separate widescreen and full screen versions with English 5.1 Dolby Surround, Spanish and French Dolby Surround with English and Spanish subtitles, plus an audio commentary by director Stefen Fangmeier.
