The terrifying, supernatural curse from the 2004 hit The Grudge returns for retribution when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment releases its much anticipated sequel, The Grudge 2 on Rated and Unrated DVD versions and the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) on February 6th for the suggested retail price of $28.95.
Grossing more than $20 million in its opening weekend, producers Sam Raimi (The Grudge, Spider-Man), Robert Tapert (The Gift, Boogeyman) and Taka Ichise (Ju-On: The Grudge, Reincarnation) and under the direction of J-Horror phenomenon Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On: The Grudge, Reincarnation), explore the dark secrets of the grudge when a curse that was once trapped in an abandoned, burned-down house escapes and quickly spreads to anyone who encounters it.
The Grudge 2 stars Sarah Michelle Gellar (The Grudge, TV’s “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer”), Amber Tamblyn (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, TV’s “Joan of Arcadia”), Arielle Kebbel (Aquamarine, John Tucker Must Die), Joanna Cassidy, (TV’s “Six Feet Under,” TV’s “Boston Legal”), Edison Chen (Infernal Affairs) and Jennifer Beals (Flashdance, TV’s “The L Word”).
Synopsis:
The Grudge 2 tells the story of Aubrey Davis (Tamblyn), who discovers from her bedridden mother, that her sister Karen (Gellar) is in a hospital in Japan and under investigation for the death of her boyfriend. Her mother is too ill to make the trip to Tokyo and asks Aubrey to bring her sister home. Shortly after Aubrey arrives in Tokyo, reporter and photographer Eason (Chen), seeks her out and warns her that Karen is in the thrall of an unseen and dangerous curse. Aubrey joins forces with Eason to discover the truth and ultimately becomes exposed to the same curse that afflicted her sister.
In a parallel plotline, a student Allison (Kebbel), is attending an international school in Tokyo and is desperately trying to fit in with the schools popular crowd. She is willing to do anything they ask---even if it means exploring a mysterious burned-down house, which is the site of several unexplained murders and strange disappearances, including that of Karen’s boyfriend. Upon entering the house, Allison is unknowingly exposed to the curse. She carries it back to the states and into her apartment building where her neighbors, including Trish (Beals), are one by one infected by the malevolent curse known as "The Grudge."
