Queer Duck, his boyfriend Openly Gator, and their friends Bi-Polar Bear and Oscar Wildcat come busting out of the closet on July 18th when they make their outrageous feature length animated debut on DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment’s DVD Premiere Division and Icebox Productions. The DVD will available for the suggested retail price of $19.99
A cult smash since its days as a short on icebox.com (1999), Queer Duck continues his saga in Queer Duck: The Movie - an over-the-top adventure featuring the world’s favorite homosexual duck as he confronts the challenges of modern gay life with the support of his friends, who are there to remind him that he’s happiest when he’s just being his rainbow-clad self.
Filled with irreverent, no-holds-barred comedy and 15 brand new songs/musical numbers (including the celebratory showstoppers “Gay Day In Happyland,” “I’m Glad I’m Gay” and “Let’s Play Gay Baseball”), this brazen extravaganza is created and written by Mike Reiss, four-time Emmy winner for his work on “The Simpsons” and creator of “The Critic,” with animation directed and designed by Xeth Feinberg.
Jim J. Bullock (“Too Close for Comfort”) voices Queer Duck who, it turns out, is both a male nurse and Jewish, and other veteran talent provide the voices for Queer Duck’s neurotic friends, including boyfriend Openly Gator (Kevin Michael Richardson, “The Joker” in “The Batman”), hard-partying leather enthusiast Bi-Polar Bear (Billy West, “Fry” in “Futurama” and “Stimpy” in “Ren & Stimpy”) and Oscar Wildcat, who is never without a martini or his smoking jacket (Maurice La March, “Brain” in “Pinky and the Brain”). Also featured are special guest voices by Tim Curry, Conan O’Brien and David Duchovny as Tiny Jesus.
And since no self-respecting gay duck could have his own show without a catchy opening theme song, Queer Duck’s is performed by drag icon RuPaul. Extras include five animated shorts that helped launch Queer Duck as a gay phenomenon (he was soon voted one of OUT Magazine’s “Top 100 Personalities”) as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the feature.
The DVD is presented in Widescreen with Dolby Digital Sound. It is Not Rated in the U.S. The DVD features include: Getting Behind Queer Duck Getting the Right Homosexual How to Find a Partner If You’re Bi. Um Coastal Stripping Down Queer Duck The People Behind the Voices Queer Duck Shorts: I’m Coming Out – Queer Duck comes out to his friends and family Fiddler on the Roofie – Queer Duck babysits his nephew Lil’ Lucky Queer As Fowl – Queer Duck and friends attend a funeral Bi-Polar Bear And The Glorious Hole – While rummaging for food Bi-Polar bear gets stuck in a hole. A triple-threat executive producer team for Queer Duck – The Movie includes Golden Globe winner Howard Gordon, an executive producer on Fox’s “24,” Rob LaZebnick, former co-executive producer of “The Simpsons” and John Collier, former co-executive producer of “King of the Hill.” Tal Vigderson (Baadasssss, “Ojo,” Mr. Wong) is producing the project alongside director and head of animation, Xeth Feinberg (MTV’s “Cartoon Sushi,” Comedy Central’s “Strangers with Candy”).
