The trials and tribulations of a family moving to New York and Daphne Zuniga’s (TV’s “Melrose Place”) return to series television highlight Beautiful People: The Complete First Season - which debuts on DVD August 8 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment with a suggested retail price of $49.95
Also starring Torrey DeVitto and Sarah Foret as Zuniga’s gorgeous daughters, the series includes a reunion of Zuniga and her “Melrose Place” co-star Grant Show, who makes a two-episode guest appearance as her ex-husband.
After being abandoned by her husband for a younger woman, Lynn Kerr (Zuniga) and her two daughters are in transition. When 16-year-old Sophie (Foret) receives a scholarship to attend Brighton, a prestigious private school in New York City, she and her sister convince their mother to move from their small hometown in New Mexico. Sophie quickly finds it hard to fit in at a high school ruled by a popular clique of wealthy society kids known as the “beautiful people,” while older sister Karen (DeVitto) looks to break into New York’s fast-paced and cutthroat modeling world. As Lynn sets out to start her life over with a job at a high fashion boutique, she and her daughters find themselves in a city full of challenges where they embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Originally airing on ABC Family Channel, the DVD features all 16 episodes in a four-disc set with exclusive bonus features including a “making of” featurette, rehearsal footage and screen tests, deleted scenes, and audio commentary on select episodes with executive producers Paul Stupin and Michael Rauch plus actresses Foret and DeVitto.
Beautiful People – The Complete First Season is now available for pre-order at Amazon. As of yet, there is not a release date for the UK. Visit the DVD’s database for more information. Cover art for the DVD has not been released yet.
