The Bandit will ride again as Smokey and the Bandit – Special Edition, staring Burt Reynolds and Jackie Gleason, arrives on DVD shelves May 30th for the suggested retail price of $19.98.

One of the all-time big box-office hits, Smokey and the Bandit is an outrageous comedy that boasts full-throttle laughs and high-velocity thrills. Reynolds is the Bandit - a king-of-the-road trucker hero who accepts the ultimate challenge to pick up a truckload of Coors beer in Texarkana (the closest place it can be legally sold ) and haul it cross-country to Atlanta in 28 hours. The reward for the drive is $80,000 and the result is one of the wildest series of car chases and crashes ever filmed! Causing trouble for the Bandit is a Texas “Smokey”, Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Gleason) - who becomes maniacally obsesses with apprehending the exclusive Bandit when he joins forces with Smokey’s son’s runaway bride (Sally Field)!The special edition DVD will come loaded with special features including:Loaded up and Truckin’ – The Making of Smokey and The Bandit – where cast and crew (including Burt Reynolds, Paul Williams and Director Hal Needham) look back at the stunts, the music, the movie and the memories of the film.

Snowman, What’s your 20? The Smokey and the Bandit CB Tutorial – where the film’s actors and real life truckers relive the best trucking and CB scenes from the movie and also give viewers a tutorial on basic and not so common CB phrases - a la VH1’s “I Love the 70’s”The DVD will be presented in 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround; English DTS 5.1 Surround.
