It's official, joining the ever growing ranks of television shows coming to DVD is "SeaQuest DSV". Universal has just announced that the first season of "SeaQuest" will hit shelves this year on December 26th. Odd, since that's a day too late for Christmas. The show will come in a four-disc package with a full lineup of twenty-three episodes and the show's original pilot. There's no word yet on what sort of extra material will come with the set, though the preliminary advertising artwork for the DVD set boasts "Exclusive never before seen footage". We do know that it'll be presented in the usual 1.33:1 full frame along with a Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track. For those who were busy watching "Lois & Clark" on Sundays during the 90's instead of turning in to "SeaQuest", the show was set in the near future of 2018. The future, is a very wet place, and mankind has begun to colonize the deep, deep oceans. Roy Scheider stars as the captain of the United Earth Organization's most advanced, super-submarine the SeaQuest. Part war-vessel, part hyper-advanced research ship, the massive vessel patrols the Oceans of the world. Other notables in the cast included cult-hero Ted Raimi, and teen sensation Jonathan Brandis. Oddly enough, the show wasn't called "SeaQuest DSV" when it first debuted. The DSV was tacked on later, but it looks as though Universal is going to go with the longer used "DSV" moniker right from the start with their TV sets for the show. "SeaQuest DSV" ran on NBC for three seasons, from December 1993 to January 1996.
