MGM and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced that the Magnificent Seven will ride again with the two-disc collection of first season of the television series based on the hit movie series from the 60s and 70s. The DVD set will be released on Dec. 6th and features all nine episodes of the first season. The series starred Ron Perlman (Hell Boy, Blade II), Michael Biehn (The Terminator), Eric Close (TV’s “Without a Trace”) and had a special guest appearance from Robert Vaughn –from the original Magnificent Seven.
Based on the popular movies, the Emmy award-winning show blends the classic gritty, tough western style with spicy scripts and well-rounded characters. Watch the tale unfold for the first time on DVD as the Magnificent Seven take you through the trials and tribulations of a local Indian village and its seven protectors.
When an Indian village is threatened by ex-Confederate soldiers, several villagers head out to seek help. They recruit seven men, each with unique skills, who return to the village and take on the raiders. Following this, the men take up residence in a small town, making their skills available to those in need.
Fans of the series made headlines during the show’s original run, circling the wagons and generating enough buzz in an unprecedented move to change the minds of CBS executives and bring back the show for a second season. Now, old and new fans alike can lasso friends and family together and head out West this holiday season to enjoy the magnificent series. The Magnificent Seven – The Complete First Season, which will run about 440 minutes, will be available for a suggest retail price of $29.95. As of yet, there is no information about what kind of special features might be included with the set.
