Descend into terror with The Descent on DVD !
Fasten your safety harness as the chilling horror of The Descent makes it’s way on to DVD! Written and directed by Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers) and starring an all female lead cast, The Descent is released to buy and rent on DVD from 7th November 2005 from Pathé Distribution Ltd. An intense psychological adventure, The Descent will shock even the most hardened caving enthusiasts…
Following a tragic accident that devastates her young family, Sarah (Shauna Macdonald, Spooks, The Rocket Post) is taken by two old friends, Beth (Alex Reid) and Juno (Natalie Mendoza) on a group activity holiday to help lift Sarah from her grief. Joined by more old friends in an idyllic wooden cabin in the Appalachian mountains, the women set off on their adventures in high spirits.
Hungry for adventure, Juno secretly selects an unconquered route for a dangerous caving expedition. The women descend into the caves and initially relish the challenging terrain – until a sudden cave-in blocks their exit and Juno must reveal that the caves are unmapped. As the first of many cracks appear in their friendships, the group tensely attempt to find another exit taking them across dangerous ravines and through claustrophobic tunnels.
A gruesome injury for one of the women is only the first casualty - as in the dark light of their torches, the women discover to their absolute horror that they are not alone! A breed of terrifying mutant creatures have colonised the caves and are intent on destroying the group. The women individually put up a good fight against the relentless beasts – but as their nerves begin to shred, tragic mistakes and old grudges disintegrate their friendships and combine to make their chances of escaping their underground prison only a fantasy…
Available as a two-disc DVD packed with special features, including two commentaries from Neil Marshall with his cast and then production crew, a 45-minute ‘Making Of Featurette’ and, extended scenes for those who want even more terror and tension!
