Enter Castle FrightensteinS.if You Dare!
Each of the programs - there were 130 in all - took place in the creepy, spooky, icky and ooky environs of the decrepit Castle Frightenstein. Count Frightenstein (played by Van), the thirteenth son of the original Count - who prefers pizza to blood - is being exiled for failing to revive Brucie, the perpetually out-of-order Frankenstein monster. Assisted by the incompetent Igor and three-foot-tall mini-Count, each ghoulishly funny episode follows the Countąs fruitless efforts to wake up the moster, and featured hilarious comedy sketches containing many of the weird and wacky characters (many played by Van himself) who populated the Castle, including the venerable Price, who recited intentionally silly poetry with toy skulls and shrunken heads in the background; The Wolfman, a werewolf DJ at station WDOG spinning Top 40 hits; a clumsy oracle and many more.
With its otherworldly blend of gallows humor, horror and irreverence, THE HILARIOUS HOUSE OF FRIGHTENSTEIN managed to cast a spell on all those who grew up tuning in. Donąt miss out on the first installment of this brilliant camp classic, never-before-available on any home entertainment format and only from Empire Pictures Home Entertainment !
