Destined to become a timeless Halloween favourite amongst the young and old alike, the CG animated special SCARY GODMOTHER: HALLOWEEN SPOOKTAKULAR comes to DVD on 17th October 2005, just in time for the scariest night of the year.

It's Halloween night and little Hannah Marie's excitement about going trick-or-treating with her older cousin Jimmy and his buddies soon turns to terror when her mean-spirited cousin tries to ditch her in a spooky derelict house. Left alone in the dark, Hannah fears her night of fun is over before it has even started. That is until her Scary Godmother turns up out of nowhere and whisks her off on a magical turbo broom ride to the Fright Side and the most thrilling Halloween party ever! During this spirited celebration, full of ghostly goodies, Hannah meets the singing skeleton Skully Pettibone, the gluttonous chatterbox Harry the Werewolf, the vampire family of Count Max, his wife Ruby and their son Orson, and the most fearsome monster of all… Bug-A-Boo! But the party really starts when Hannah's new friends hear her story and decide to help her plan a very fitting form of revenge on Jimmy.

 

A witty and entertaining tale of a young girl who manages to overcome her fears while making some rather unusual new friends along the way, SCARY GODMOTHER: HALLOWEEN SPOOKTAKULAR will charm and delight children with its wonderfully colourful characters and keep adults amused with its clever sight gags and wordplay.

 

SCARY GODMOTHER: HALLOWEEN SPOOKTAKULAR is adapted from a stage play based on the best-selling, award winning children's books and graphic novels by Jill Thompson. An Eisner Award winning comic book writer and illustrator, Thompson is possibly the most well known female comic book artist in the world, thanks to her acclaimed work on such titles as Hellboy, The Invisibles, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Black Orchid and, most notably, Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

 

The DVD comes packed with a host of impressive extras that include fascinating insights into CG animation production and a beautiful gallery of Jill Thompson's original artwork.
