Season Four of The West Wing brings new faces, new demands and many changes to the Bartlet White House. After White House Deputy Communications Director Sam Seaborn (Rob Lowe) decides to run for Congress in California, Will Bailey, played by Joshua Malina (Sports Night), steps in, and Lily Tomlin joins the cast as the president's new secretary, Debbie Fiderer. The end of the fourth season also marks the departure of the show's creator and writer, Aaron Sorkin, and series director, Thomas Schlamme, both of whom went on to win Emmys for this season.
